Crucial Dates on Term 3 School Calendar. After a two-week holiday, students have started returning to school across the country. The third term officially began on August 28, 2023, and will last until October 27, 2023, according to the updated academic calendar released by the Ministry of Education for Pre-primary, Primary, and Secondary schools and colleges.
Both primary and secondary school students are expected to attend class for a total of 9 weeks during this last semester. There will be no midterm break since this term, which precedes the impending national exams, is very important.
Candidates who do not participate in the national exams can take their vacation starting on October 28 and ending on January 8, 2024. Candidates for Grade Six and Standard Eight will take their KPSEA and KCPE exams over a four-day period from October 30 to November 2, 2023, respectively. The 2-6-3-3-3 Competency-Based Curriculum has taken the place of the 8-4-4 system, with this batch of KCPE students representing the last to do so.
Exams for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will be held from November 3 to November 24, 2023.
Notably, this year’s KCPE and KCSE exams will be taken by almost 2.3 million candidates. 1,415,315 of them will take the KCPE examinations, and another 903,260 children will take the KCSE exams.
The examination papers have already been produced, and candidate registration has been finished nationwide, according to KNEC CEO David Njengere. The administration of exams will follow the scheduled schedule.
Teachers will start marking papers on November 27 when the examinations are over, and it will last for three weeks, through December 15, 2023.
Furthermore, the third term for diploma-level students at Teachers’ Training Colleges started on May 8 and ended on August 11 of 2023.
