The Nyamira County Government, led by Governor Amos Nyaribo, has pledged an additional twenty four million shillings in the next financial year to cater for needy students entering the Kenya Medical College.
Governor Nyaribo said it is important to establish a revolving fund under his leadership to support students in need. So he gave 24 million shillings to help 300 needy students from Nyamira for three years.
He was speaking at his office, which received a delegation from the KMTC board.
The governor promised to provide the necessary support to improve the facilities in KMTC Nyamira city.
He said, the district government will work closely with KMTC.
I know we have budget constraints, but I will try to collaborate to improve our infrastructure to allow students to study in a comfortable environment,” he said.
He asked the KMTC board to add more courses and prioritize residents in admission for their benefit.
KMTC CEO Kelly Oluch said his team is committed to strengthening and deepening partnerships with the county government to improve community services.
The delegation was led by Oluoch and KMTC Chairman Zachary Muburi Muita among other council members.
Meanwhile, the plan to create a Memorandum of Understanding between the District Government and KMTC is ongoing.
