KNEC Marking Centres 2023 and New Marking Rates
KNEC Marking Centres 2023 and New Marking Rates. Teachers marking Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2023 will start reporting to their respective centers next week on Monday morning after the completion of the examination on Friday this week.
However, team leaders and subject coordinators were already reporting to marking centres.
Before marking starts next week, team leaders and subject coordinators will spend a week working on marking schemes for different subjects.
Many teachers criticize the long hours of marking they are subjected to.
For example, teachers marking the KCSE 2022 exam marked papers from 4:00 am to 10:00 pm at night.
Why can’t we work from 8pm to 5pm like other government officials? asked the teacher.
The teacher asked Knec to reconsider the hours or consider paying overtime for the extra hours.
Other teachers are calling for an increase in assessment rates to provide the necessary motivation for examiners.
They chastised the board of examiners for maintaining the same fees in the face of changing economic conditions.
We can’t have the same amount of money for all these years, we work so long and we need to be paid better,” added one of the teachers.
