KUCCPS Opens OUK Application Portal
KUCCPS Opens OUK Application Portal. Applications for enrollment at the Open University of Kenya (OUK) have been announced by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS). On August 28, the enrollment process is expected to start.
Mercy Wahome, the CEO of KUCCPS, announced the inauguration of the application portal for anybody interested in working for OUK. The cost of attending OUK’s undergraduate degree programs is Ksh110,000, according to KUCCPS. However, full-time enrollment in the Bachelor of Technology Education program costs Ksh115,000 per year.
The price for postgraduate diploma programs is Ksh110,000 for one academic year. Wahome added that under the new higher education finance model, the government negotiated a 15% discount with universities, which is included in the stated yearly tuition charge.
Students at OUK have the choice to pay for and enroll in certain academic units. This can be purchased for Ksh10,000 per unit. Students enrolled in the university’s Bachelor’s degree and postgraduate diploma programs are eligible to choose this option.
For all programs or individual course units, there is an additional 10% cost for international students from outside of East Africa.
The minimal entry requirements for bachelor’s degree programs have been specified by KUCCPS. A mean grade of C+ or higher in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent is one of these prerequisites.
Additionally, certificates from foundation or bridge courses as well as diplomas, professional certifications, KCSE certificates or their equivalents, and other credentials are taken into account.
Candidates having a recognized bachelor’s degree or a Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education with particular grade requirements are eligible to apply.
Wahome highlighted that there will be no fee and no deadline for applications submitted through the KUCCPS portal. The Open University’s distinctive teaching methodology and customizable modular program design, which let students learn at their own pace and convenience, are credited with this application cost waiver.
Wahome further emphasized that, in accordance with the requirements of the new funding model, candidates for bachelor’s degree programs are eligible for government loans and scholarships.
The KUCCPS portal accepts direct applications from candidates who have taken the KCSE exams between 1989 and the present. Both the placement agency and OUK are prepared to assist with the submission of application materials for those with international or non-KCSE credentials.
