Schools are given a deadline for activity fee payment
Schools are given a deadline for activity fee payment. By Tuesday, June 20, county directors in the Nyanza region are to give instructions to school heads to deposit funds intended to make up the shortfall in funds allocated for second-term regional and national co-curricular activities.
Nelson Sifuna, the Nyanza Regional Director of Education (RDE), made reference to the decisions made at their initial meeting on May 11 discussing the amount needed per student at various levels in a document dated June 12, 2023 that was sent to all County Directors of Education (CDEs) in the area.
“Each primary school will contribute Ksh20 from the Co-curricular Ministry of Education (MoE) money for the success of these activities, of which Ksh9 will be used to run activities at the Sub County, Ksh6 at the County, and Ksh5 at the Region. “The MoE will send Ksh100 for JSS activities, with Ksh50 going to the Sub County, Ksh30 going to the County, and Ksh20 going to the region.
“For secondary school activities, a total of Ksh100 shall be remitted from MoE funding,” the director continued. “Ksh50 shall be remitted to the Sub County, Ksh30 to the County, and Ksh20 to the region.”
