TSC Completes Intern Teacher Recruitment and Commences Deployment
TSC Completes Intern Teacher Recruitment and Commences Deployment. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has just completed the process of selecting trainee teachers to be posted in secondary schools. TSC has advertised a total of 20,000 teacher trainees to support the implementation of competency-based curriculum.
Of these, 18,000 posts are for secondary schools and 2,000 for primary schools.
Applicants must meet certain criteria to be considered for employment. First, they must be Kenyan citizens as a basic requirement.
In addition, candidates must obtain a Diploma in Education and achieve an academic average of at least C+ (supplementary) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent.
In addition, candidates are expected to score C+ (plus) in two teaching subjects during the KCSE examination. Applicants must be officially registered teachers in the Teaching Service Corps, demonstrate qualifications and the right to participate in the apprenticeship scheme.
This strict requirement is to ensure that the selected candidate is not only academically qualified, but also officially approved by the educational institution, thus ensuring a certain level of competence and professionalism among practicing teachers.

Murang’a Regency TSC Director Fredrick Nganga announced that the 635 newly recruited teachers in the district will be distributed to 514 public primary schools with a junior secondary section.
Ng’ang’a said the newly recruited teachers should start reporting to their assigned schools on September 1. Upon arrival, they will experience a short training and orientation period.
Single-stream schools will be assigned one teacher, multi-stream schools will be assigned additional teachers. After implementation, TSC will determine whether there is a shortage of teachers in secondary schools.
In the initial stage, TSC recruited and deployed 788 teachers to secondary schools in Murang’a Regency.
“When we deploy teachers, we also consider the combination of subjects needed in each school,” said Ngang’a.
