TSC Has Changed All Teachers Promotion Interview Venues
TSC Has Changed All Teachers Promotion Interview Venues. All teacher promotion interviews for primary school teachers in sub-regions will be conducted by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Teachers in grades C1 to C4 are interviewed for these positions. In the past, TSC has conducted these interviews at the regional level.
However, during the last promotion interviews for 14,738 vacancies in March this year, Commission representatives and departmental representatives led by the TSC and Departmental Directors made a mistake.
When TSC CEO Nancy Macharia announced in August that all promotion slots had been filled and that thousands of people waiting for promotion letters had received regret letters, there were widespread protests.
Concerns have been raised about the selection criteria that were used. One billion shillings was given to the Commission to support instructors.
Many teachers reported that corruption is rife and merit is mostly not used in granting promotions, as are large schools.
However, this time all promotion interviews will be conducted in sub-districts conducted by TSC Sub-District Directors.
The commission is also facing the largest ever number of teachers, especially in the C1 grade, who have been shortlisted for promotion interviews.
The first phase of TSC talks will cover primary school teachers and will start from 4 to 15 December 2023.
About one hundred and fifty thousand primary and secondary school teachers were shortlisted and sent interview letters to apply for the 36,505 vacancies advertised in September.
In primary schools, C1 teachers will compete to fill 10,819 Senior Teacher II (C2) posts for mainstream schools and 700 posts for special schools.
C2 teachers will compete to fill 3,040 Senior Teacher I (C3) posts for mainstream schools and 346 posts for special schools.
Grade C3 teachers will be seeking to fill 1,930 Deputy Principal II (C4) posts for mainstream schools.
Change of venues for TSC promotion interviews.
Deputy principals in C4 will compete to fill 1,049 principal positions in C5 for mainstream schools and 30 for special schools.
The second phase of TSC promotion interviews will be for post-primary teachers. Interviews will take place from 3 to 16 January 2024.
Unlike elementary school interviews, these teachers will have promotion interviews at the district level and will be chaired by district principals.
The commission listed the following items that will be presented during the December promotion interviews.
1) Original National ID Card
2) Original Academic and Professional Certificates
3) Letter of appointment to the current Grade
4) Letter of appointment to the current post (where applicable)
