Ndindi Nyoro Sends a Message To Parents Over School Reopening For The Second Term. As flooding continues to wreak havoc across Kenya, claiming more lives, President William Ruto has directed the postponement of the scheduled school reopening date.
The death toll from the relentless rains rose to 228 today, according to National Disaster Operations Centre. Facing this humanitarian crisis, the Head of State ordered the Ministry of Education to delay learners’ return to classes.
The move aims to protect thousands of children, teachers and other school staff from potential danger as floodwaters submerge numerous learning institutions nationwide.
With schools now closed indefinitely until further notice, many parents have been anxiously awaiting updates on when in-person lessons will resume.
Addressing congregants at a church service today, MP Ndindi Nyoro urged the public to exercise patience. “I know this is an inconvenience, but the government is working around the clock to resolve the flooding emergency first,” he assured.
Nyoro revealed the National Government Constituency Development Fund is actively involved in renovating classrooms ravaged by rains and floods. “Our goal is to rebuild any infrastructure damaged so learning can restart safely once the waters recede,” he added.
Normalcy is projected to return within the next two weeks, according to the lawmaker, as drainage efforts take effect countrywide. But the well-being of Kenya’s children remains the utmost priority in this trying time.
