How Teachers Lost Out in the New Phase TSC Payrise in C4, C5, D4, and D5. After the first TSC and union payments were made, not everyone took advantage of the new increase because others had nothing to smoke.
Some teachers in the police department smiled and paid their new salaries to the bank, thanks to the collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
Teachers Service Council (TSC) and Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) employers have signed the first phase of CBA for teachers. Other unions involved in the agreement include the Kenya Union of Primary Teachers (KUPPET) and the Kenya Union of Special Education Teachers (KUSNET).
Following the new CBA salary changes, five teacher salary levels, namely C4, C5, D4 and D5, were lost because there was no salary increase. Salaries for C4 and C5 teachers remain at Sh52, Sh308 and Sh62, Sh272 respectively. Salaries of workers in grades D4 and D5 were maintained at Sh114, Sh242, Sh131 and Sh380 respectively.
In the first phase, which is currently ongoing, the recipients are D1 level teachers who will receive a salary increase of Sh785. The additional minimum salary for B5 level employees is sh2,074 and salaries range from sh21,756 to sh23,830.
The salary increase for C1 level teachers is sh2,592 and the salary has been increased from sh27,195 to sh29,797.
Additionally, the salaries of teachers in the C2 category increased by Sh3,331 from Sh34,995 to Sh38,286. D1 coaches on the other hand use sh785 more and change its meaning from sh77,840 to sh78,625.
TSC teachers in D2 are paid a salary of sh1,455 and their income ranges from ks91,041 to sh92,496. Class D3 teachers’ income increased by sh1,399 from sh104,644 to sh106,043.
Finally, the minimum wage for C3 was Sh43,154 before the salary increase, while the figure now stands at Sh45,671.
Teachers are excluded from the new TSC salary increases at C4, C5, D4 and D5 levels.
