Battle for Supremacy Rocks TVET Leadership, Muoria brought in. Confusion has plagued the leadership of Technical Vocational and Educational Training (TVET) over the appointment of two persons to the same post.
Dr Meshack Opwora and the Deputy Director of Technical Education, John Tuvey, have both been appointed as National Directors of TVET.
In a recent incident, Mr. Tuwei attended a capacity building meeting for TVET principals and was introduced as the Director of Technical Education.
This comes despite earlier communications confirming Dr Opwora’s position in the same role. Although the report confirming the recovery of Dr. Opwora’s, Tuwei was presented as a director in an event.
The position of Dr. Opwora seems to have come from his closeness with President William Ruto before the 2022 election. This led to the temporary removal and once Hon. Machgu took over the leadership of the ministry. However, Dr. Opwora’s problem continues.
With a PhD in TVET from the University of Newcastle, Australia and a Masters in Education from the University of Nairobi, Dr. Opwora has been the Director of TVET since 2018.
Dr. Opwora’s position appears to have resulted from his friendship with President William Ruto before to the 2022 election. Due to this, the ministry was temporarily removed, and Hon. Machgu eventually took over as ministry leader. But Dr. Opwora’s issue still exists.
Dr. Opwora has been the Director of TVET since 2018. She holds a PhD in TVET from the University of Newcastle, Australia, and an MA in Education from the University of Nairobi.
