Egerton University is on the Hunt for Accreditation from overseas for its Master’s Programs. Egerton University is committed to international recognition for two postgraduate programs: Master of Science in Animal Nutrition and Master of Science in Food Science. An important step in this process is the two-day evaluation of the program by a panel of experts from the prestigious European accreditation body ASIIN.
During this evaluation period, the Board of Trustees of Egerton University, lecturers and ASIIN experts came together for a group photo to celebrate their efforts to improve the quality of the aforementioned program through global accreditation.
The ASIIN team, consisting of experts such as Professor Gerhard Schleining from BOKU in Austria, Professor Bernhard Hiebl from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover, Germany, Eng. Anke Weishit from Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Uganda, Sambwe Fundikira from Gete University in Belgium and Sascha Warnke, Project Manager of Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania and ASIIN office in Germany, interacted with various stakeholders during their visit to Egerton University. .
These stakeholders include the University Governing Board, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Heads of related Departments, Program Coordinators, the CESAAM team, lecturers, students, alumni and industry/private partners. Representatives of the Department of Marketing and Resource Mobilization were also present.
The Vice-Chancellor of Egerton University, Professor Isaac Kibwage, welcomed the ASIIN team and thanked them for their thorough assessment. ASIIN experts provide a brief but clear initial report, and based on their final evaluation, provide suggestions, recommendations, and guidance for further development.
Key areas of focus include curriculum development, quality assurance measures, access to state-of-the-art facilities, program marketing and coordination.
Prof. Kibwage reaffirmed the university’s unwavering commitment to improve the quality of academic programs and emphasized the importance of guidance provided by the ASIIN team in improving global competitiveness and the quality of its master’s program.
Egerton University expects to benefit significantly from international accreditation for its Master of Science in Animal Nutrition and Master of Science in Food Science programs pending ASIIN’s comprehensive report.
Global recognition of this accreditation is expected to enhance the university’s reputation and attract students seeking quality education and industry-relevant careers.
