The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) in collaboration with Kenyan Authorities has released a Consumer Rights Syllabus for Grade 7 students.
Another area of study that has been published is the group for English, mathematics and pre-technical courses with five lessons a week.
Integrated Science and Kiswahili will be taught four times a week, while Foreign Languages and Social Studies will be taught three times a week.
Physical and sports education, health education and religious education will be taught twice.
Virtual Arts / Performing Arts, Business Studies / Computer Studies will be taught three times and finally Life Skills will appear once a week.
The aim of the courses is to equip students with skills and knowledge about the labor market.
Starting in January 2023, the new curriculum for secondary schools will benefit more than 1.2 students entering the seventh grade.
Teachers were asked whether they were familiar with the new curriculum to implement.
