KNEC Adds Deputy School HeadTeachers To List Of Contracted
KNEC Adds Deputy School HeadTeachers To List Of Contracted. The Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) has officially added Deputy Heads of Institutions to its list of contract experts.
Previously, vice principals and principals were used in schools during national exams, but were not recognized by Knec.
This means that he is not entitled to a stipend from Knec to help him prepare for exams and manage students.
However, in the new changes, the Deputy HOI will assist school leaders during the national testing period
According to Knecz, this will help prevent fraud. The Cabinet also made several other changes that will affect national tests and assessments scheduled to begin in October.
Last week, Knec issued a new statement prohibiting contracted professionals, inspectors and assessors from engaging in activities that threaten their offices.
“Preparing test candidates, peer learning and developing pedagogical skills is a good practice. The council requires contracted professionals, examiners and assessors to sign a confidentiality oath to engage in activities that prohibit, among other things, conflict of interest. and to reveal their identity as examiners/evaluators of KNEC ,” he said.
The Board instructed all contracted professionals, auditors and assessors not to attend such workshops.
Knec will conduct national examinations for the 2.3 million students who will sit for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) this year.
About 1,415,315 candidates will take the KCPE exam and another 903,260 will take the KCSE exam.
Kenya National Examinations Council Executive Director David Njengere said preparations have been made for candidates including Grade 6 students who will sit for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA).
