Ministry Confirms Timely Payments Of Examiners Now
Ministry Confirms Timely Payments Of Examiners Now. The ministry assured the proper payment for the audit because teachers need confidence. The Secretary General of the Department of Education, Dr. Belio Kipsang, assured the teachers who administered the exams to pay for the exams on time.
Kipsang said the Ministry of Education, among those involved in the administration of national examinations, has taken measures to ensure examiners, invigilators, scorers and security personnel are paid on time to avoid problems.
While calling for concerted efforts to ensure reliable testing, Dr Kipsang stressed the need to address insecurities in conducting tests.
He said he should not involve the police. However, this will only be possible if the teacher has the confidence and ability to administer the test reliably.
“Let us try to overcome this lack of confidence during the national examination. We need to regain our faith in the teaching profession. Why don’t we see the leaked mock exams, but we are the ones who design, organize and mark them? We can also do that with a national test,” said Dr Kipsang.
PS also reminded students not to plan extracurricular activities in the third semester so that they can prepare adequately for the exam.
He also hoped that teachers would not send students, especially candidates, home for tuition fees in the third semester to limit exposure to incidents that could hamper exam preparation.
This year, about 3.5 million students are expected to take the national exam, with 1.4 million candidates for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), 1.2 million candidates for the Kenya Certificate of Basic Education (KPSEA) and 900,000 candidates for the Kenya Certificate Secondary Education Examination.
He also hoped that teachers would not send students, especially candidates, home for tuition fees in the third semester to limit exposure to incidents that could hamper exam preparation.
