Pay boom for teachers as SRC Assign New Allowance
Pay boom for teachers as SRC Assign New Allowance. The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) recently made significant revisions to the Daily Allowance (DSA) rates applicable to civil servants across the country, including teachers, for local travel purposes.
The main objective of these revised prices is to ensure equal compensation for expenses incurred by individuals on official business trips. Published on August 7, 2023 and personally signed by SRC Chairman Lin Mengich, this initiative covers all city centers, district centers and some other cities.
Now, let’s look at the changes in the different teacher class categories:
1. Class B5 and C1 teachers: The revised DSA for teachers in class B5 (Primary Teachers II) and C1 (Secondary Teachers III, Teachers III, Primary Teachers I) is set at Ksh6,300.
2. C2, C3, C4 and C5 class teachers: C2 class teachers (secondary teacher, SNE teacher II-SD, teacher II, senior teacher II), C3 (secondary teacher I, teacher I, SNE teacher I-SD, SNE Teacher II-Secondary School, Senior Teacher I), C4 (Senior Teacher IV, Senior Teacher IV, Senior Teacher SNE – Elementary School, Teacher SNE I – Middle School, Deputy Teacher II) and C5 (Senior Teacher III, Senior Teacher III), Teacher Principal , Vice Principal I, Curriculum Support Officer II) will now receive Ksh11,200 DSA.
3. Teachers D1, D2, D3, D4 and D5: Upper echelon teachers including those in D1 (Head of School II, Vice Head III, Head of School, Head of School II, Curriculum Support Officer I), D2 (Vice Head II, Senior Teacher I, Senior Teacher I), D3 (Principal, Deputy Principal I), D4 (Principal) and D5 (Principal) will enjoy a DSA increase of Ksh14,000.
It is also important to note that this update in the SRC circle supersedes the previous broadcast related to retreats, working group permission, eligibility to sit in institutional internal committees and DSA (domestic and foreign travel) in public service.
This comprehensive revision aims to provide a fair and transparent compensation structure for civil servants and ease the need for work-related travel.
