Teacher’s Salary to increase by TSC
Teacher’s Salary to increase by TSC. The sole organization in Kenya with a mandate to look after the wellbeing of all teachers is the Teachers Service Commission. Employing, promoting, and moving teachers are all responsibilities of the commission.
Promotions for teachers are always accompanied by higher remuneration. The commission has recently promoted teachers in accordance with career development standards that went into force in 2016.
According to a recent study, all primary and secondary school teachers will soon receive pay raises and other benefits. This comes after the promotions done by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
It is past due for TSC to increase teachers’ salary in order to better support them in adjusting to the nation’s shifting economic conditions. The CEO of TSC has confirmed it.
Teachers’ unions negotiated a non-monetary Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) last year in response to the COVID 19 pandemic’s consequences.
The most recent pay raise, according to the teachers’ union Knut, took place between 2016-2017 and 2017-2018.
Teachers only had the right to maternity and paternity leave days under the 2021–2025 CBA.
The CBA amendment agreement was reached with the idea that it would be finished after a year, according to Collins Oyuu, secretary general of Knut.
If everything goes according to plan, KNUT secretary Oyuu will demand a 60% compensation rise for teachers. This is due to the conclusion of the COVID 19.
This is the proposed 60% pay increase for teachers in each job group.
