TSC Releases another Batch of 1000 Promotion Letters
TSC Releases another Batch of 1000 Promotion Letters. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) recently sent out more than 1,000 promotional letters to school administrators in various districts. Although there were delays after the talks, some counties are now issuing letters to teachers.
TSC initially advertised 14,738 teaching posts in December 2022, but later canceled the advertisement due to insufficient demand. Additional requests for applications were made in January, March and May.
However, letters for leadership positions have not yet been issued, so some teachers in acting roles are awaiting confirmation. The delays were attributed to financial constraints as the funds were provided in installments by the Ministry of Finance.
TSC plans to continue to gradually promote and post teachers as long as it receives financial support. Chief executive Nancy Macharia has expressed concern over teachers’ reluctance to seek promotions in neighboring counties due to the new “promotion-based placement” system, which links teacher advancement to available posts in a specific county.
Of the 14,738 vacancies initially advertised, only 11,231 teachers were recruited, with 3,507 posts left vacant due to lack of applications and 1,021 reserved for positive consent teachers.
These jobs included a variety of positions in mainstream and special schools such as head teachers, head teachers, deputy head teachers, senior masters, head teachers, deputy head teachers and head teachers.
