TSC Provides Timeline for Confirmation of Current Intern Teachers
TSC Provides Timeline for Confirmation of Current Intern Teachers. To ensure the conditions of permanent and pensionable employment for intern teachers, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has asked the government for funds.
TSC Chairperson Jamleck Muturi stated today at the Kenya School of Government during the unveiling of the TSC 2023–2027 strategic plan that the teachers will lose enthusiasm if they work on internships for an excessive amount of time.
According to Muturi, the Commission intends to confirm the teachers in January 2024, assuming it receives the required cash.
TSC intends to spend sh 11 billion on teacher promotions, sh 7.9 billion on CBC, TPAD, and PC training, sh 24 billion on recruiting interns, and sh 73.8 billion on hiring 111,870 teachers on long-term contracts with pension benefits.
In February, TSC employed 20,000 intern instructors. The “stipend” for primary school interns is Sh15,000, while the “stipend” for secondary school interns is Sh20,000.
There were TSC Commissioners in attendance, led by its Secretary Dr. Nancy Njeri Macharia and Chairperson Jamleck Muturi.

Additionally present were the PS for Education Belio Kipsang, the Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi, and the CS for Education Ezekiel Machogu. Others included representatives of the parents’ organization and the teachers’ union.
The launch takes place after TSC updated its mission, vision, and core values declarations.
Additionally, it takes place when there are 20,000 internship openings published by the Commission. TSC has advertised 18,000 internship slots for junior high school teachers and 2,000 more for primary school teachers.
This month, teachers also anticipate pay increases. According to President William Ruto, teachers will have a pay raise of 7% to 10%.
The current serving intern teachers were deployed to Junior Secondary School early this year by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). They are likely to be promoted to Permanent and pensionable terms by the TSC.
