Newly hired elementary school teachers will start in the B5 work group. However, B5 teachers will automatically qualify for C1 after three years of service based on the Career Progression Guidelines (CPG).

Elementary school teachers in class C1 are also known as elementary school teachers and are in T-Scale 6. Primary school teachers in job group B5 and C1 are not happy after the Teacher Service Commission (TSC) published a recruitment advertisement for teachers they could not get hold of. they are

This latest step means that these teachers can only be promoted through Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and not through TSC promotion.

According to the latest advertisement released by the board, the eligible teachers for this post are those in job group C2 and above.

Therefore, on January 23, 2023, only school principals are targeted for this promotion.

Class B5 is the only grade found in elementary school teachers. Class B5, also known as Elementary Teacher II, is the entry level for all elementary school teachers and is on the T-Scale 5. All new teachers fall into this category.

Promotion of elementary school teachers from C1 to C2 is not automatic. The influence in the primary class is the senior teacher C2.

TSC has advertised a total of 14,738 vacancies spread across primary and secondary schools as well as teacher training colleges (TTCs).

The Board has advertised four vacancies for General Manager of TTCs in Class D5.

TSC also wants to promote 13,713 principals, vice-principals, principals, secondary teachers, head teachers and vice-principals in secondary and primary schools.

The largest number of vacancies in this category is the Vice Principal for ordinary primary schools with 7,720 vacancies.

TSC will also develop 2,733 head teachers, 1,330 middle I teachers, 725 vice principals, 602 school principals, 224 vice principals and 208 senior II teachers for normal primary schools.

There are also 73 vacancies for main secondary school principals, 32 special needs education (SNE) principals, 22 SNE principals, 17 vacancies for vice principals, eight principals for SNE and four principals for SNE.

TSC has also advertised 1,020 vacancies for teachers working in arid and semi-arid areas (ASAL) and labor-challenged districts as principals, vice-principals, teachers and vice-principals.

Some districts in this category include Baringo North, Thiaty East, Thiaty West and Marigat sub-district, Homa Bay which includes Suba and Mbita, Kajiado, Loitoktok and Kajiado West sub-district for Mashuuru, Kilifi’s Magarini Ganze area.

The others are Isiolo, Kitui, Kwale, Mandera, Marsabit, Narok, Samburu, Taita Taveta, Tana River, Turkana, Wajir and West Pokot.

The highest workshop in this category is 284, 2nd Class Teacher I, 223 Head Teacher II, 195 Vice Principal, and about 90 senior teachers among other ranks.

“Applicants for vacancies in ASAL and those applying for serious districts must upload their application letters to their current responsibilities. “Successful candidates for interviews will be required to show Chapter Six documentation before being considered for appointment.” Applicants for the four key positions must have at least three years of experience senior management in T-Scale 14, satisfactory performance assessment and performance contract. , in accordance with the requirements of chapter six, and in accordance with other requirements as the Commission deems necessary.

The petition call comes in the backdrop of a rebellion by the National Assembly’s Education Committee seeking an explanation from the TSC on the delayed promotion.

Lawmakers have called on the TSC to explain the commission’s failure to recruit and promote nearly 15,000 teachers, some of whom have been in the same position for more than five years.

However, the commission regrets that in the last ten years, there was no additional budget for teacher promotion, apart from the allocation of funds from July 2017 for salary review based on the performance evaluation report of the Salary and Remuneration Commission. .

In the past two weeks, TSC has also received applications from prospective teachers, an exercise that will be closed today

“We thank the government for finding the resources to recruit an average of 30,550 teachers in the exercise that is expected to end next month. I want to invite all unemployed teachers to apply for jobs and inform the public to apply until December 23,” he said.
