Garissa Principal Sentenced to 35 Years in Prison. After being found guilty of sodomizing a form 2 pupil, Hussein Ali, the principal and director of Mwangaza Secondary inside the county, was given a 35-year prison sentence by a Garissa Court.
The attack happened in November 2021, and the victim admitted that the principal had a weapon on her at the time. The victim said that she was too scared to defend herself.
The principal was found guilty of the offence, and resident magistrate Shadrack Otuke decided to sentence him to 35 years in prison.
After discussing the judicial sentencing recommendations above, which I believe to be persuasive, and taking into account the high court’s requirements, the accused should be imprisoned and made accountable for his own behavior. The offender is hereby sentenced to 35 years of confinement at a correctional facility, Otuke declared.
The verdict brings relief to the victim’s family, who have been fighting for justice since November 2021, and also serves as a warning to future potential criminals.
Judge Otuke emphasized that teachers have a duty to safeguard children and not exploit them.
“Children need to be protected. Children need a good shepherd, he said, not a wolf or hyena, which can easily feast on lambs.
Insisting that his client was innocent, the defense attorney passionately disagreed with the judge’s ruling.
He claimed there was a plot to falsely charge the person who owned the property the school was built on due to a dispute over ownership.
