To teach at a junior secondary school, you need a c plus on your KCSE which is the minimum qualification required by TSC.
The Teachers Service Commission, or TSC, did not look into the principal’s credentials prior to issuing letters of deployment. Meaning they didn’t focus on their entry grade to college which is meant to be C plus for a teacher to teach in Junior Secondary School.
The TSC CEO further stated that the P1 deployment application date is March 22, 2023. The primary Headteachers were issued with official letters from Technology Service Commission to serve as Junior Secondary School principals effective from this year.

TSC REQUIREMENTS FOR JSS TEACHERS

There is a lot of concern about who will teach children at junior secondary schools in grades 7, 8, and 9.
Job grade C2, with a base salary scale of between Sh 34,955 and Sh 43,694 per month, will be the starting point for junior secondary schools.Job Grade C2 was initially referred to as Job Group K before the changes. Upon completion of three years the teacher is automatically promoted to Job Grade C3 which was formally known as Job Group L.
