The Kenyan Government has decided to change its educational system and adopt a new curriculum; The Competency Based Curriculum popularly known as CBC. This is a move to ensure that learners gain more skills that will help them employ themselves in the near future. Education cabinet secretary Ezekiel Machogu has clarified on how funding shall be done. The secretary has confirmed that in the education sector, junior secondary school is set to receive the lions share when capitation will be done. The cash will help in a number of issues like construction of laboratories among other key issues.

Education cabinet secretary Ezekiel Machogu was speaking to principals in Kisii and Nyamira counties. He affirmed that his office is working day and night, trying hook and crook to ensure that education in this country is on another level. He insisted that junior secondary school will get more funding because he understands the challenge of hosting junior secondary in primary schools. He further congratulated the headteachers for the exemplary performance witnessed in the just recently released national examinations. No exam malpractice was reported in the aforementioned two counties. He further confirmed that his office had not received any report concerning examination malpractice for the just concluded KCSE exam.

The headteachers raised an issue of understaffing in their schools. The cabinet secretary asked them to be a little bit patient as plans were underway to recruit more teachers to solve the current crisis.
