The government in conjuction with Ministry of Education came to a decision to domicile Junior Secondary school in primary school.
Primary schools with well equipped facilities were chosen to host the Grade 7 candidates. Some primary schools with less numbers was merged with other primary schools to reach the required number of students.
Every primary school with a Junior Secondary Schools were attached with one teacher. While some with markebly high number of students are accorded two teachers. This was done so to meet every candidate in the Grade 7 effectively and efficiently.
In the past 3 weeks, every school with Junior Secondary School had beed assigned a teacher. Apart from the Ministry of Education ensuring the deployment of teachers, there lies another crisis, as surveyed by our media team.
From interviews and questionnaires from various parents across the country. Many sound unsatisfied by the new CBC Curriculum currently at Junior Secondary School for Grade 7 Candidates.
Many parents notably said that their children are reporting lack of learning activities as in many schools learners spend like the holiday playing instead of classwork activities. Reason being mainly inadequate books for the Grade 7 since the government has not released the books.
The teachers also claim they have no much content about the CBC since they are yet to attend a retooling training arranged by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). Some also are experiencing a new change since majority of the deployed teachers were shifted from Senior Secondary Schools.
Last week the Members of Parliament had a motion about CBC where the majority had a move to scrap the CBC Curriculum and implement more on the old 8-4-4 system.
The Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms (PWPER) are tasked to take more research about the CBC ongoing queries and confusion. This is to affirm whether the Curriculum is in standard for the learners to be taught.
