Kind of Teachers Qualified to Be JSS Principals
Kind of Teachers Qualified to Be JSS Principals. Robert Basil, a Yatta-based lawmaker, encouraged the Ministry of Education to clarify the process for appointing principals of junior secondary schools starting in 2019.
The recommendation made by the education reform team that junior secondary schools be located in elementary schools around the country gave rise to the problem.
Given the foregoing, Basil wished the Cabinet Secretary would;
“Explain the criteria to be used in the deployment of principals in junior secondary schools.”
The lawmaker further urged that the school reform commission simultaneously clarify the status of professors who have been working in performing roles.
When will teachers who have served as acting principals or deputy principals for a period longer than the requisite six months actually be given those positions?
The primary school principals have reportedly been formally given letters of deployment to act in that position, according to some information.
The Sub County Directors are thought to have sent these letters, which formalize TSC’s management mandate, to the school administrators.

As long as the headmaster had junior secondary students staying at the school, the commission did not take the headteacher’s credentials into account when issuing these letters.
Whether junior secondary will soon have extra administrators is likewise uncertain at this moment.
In accordance with the newly published and released guideline Provisions by the ministry, current primary school head teachers shall continue to serve in such capacity for the junior secondary category.
The Ministry of Education further confirmed that for a transitional period of no more than a year, the JSS is run by the current elementary school principals.
The boards of management of current primary schools will serve as specialized committees for the management of jss.
According to the ministry, Sub-Committees would be given the right to open JSS bank accounts for tuition capitation, another account for operating capital funds, and grants for infrastructure after getting an introduction letter from the subcounty director of education.
The name of the primary school where they are located must also be used for junior secondary schools that are also elementary schools.
In order to manage school resources properly, the education ministry demands that there be two separate bank accounts for JSS and elementary school sections.
