Kisii University is expecting a record-breaking 8, 632 students, with 7, 963 approved through Kenyatta’s government sponsorship initiative.

Machogu stated on July 31, 2023, that of the 870,561 competent applicants for placement in universities and colleges, 130,485 obtained offers from public universities and 9,622 from private ones.
He stated that a total of 140,107 individuals were accepted into degree programs.
“These figures represent 80.9 percent of the 173,244 students who qualified for degree programs,” he said.
According to Machogu, only 285,698 of the 870,561 applicants who qualified for placement in universities and colleges submitted placement requests through the KUCCPS website.
At the same time, Machogu claimed that the government will fully compensate over 45,000 university students and 42,000 TVET students who are deemed vulnerable and in severe need through Government Scholarships and Loans under the new funding model it has devised.
To ensure suitable support, financial demands will be classified using the dependable scientific Means Testing Instrument (MTI).
Machogu emphasized that students from low-income families will finally have a fair opportunity to enroll in TVET and institutions thanks to 100% government funding.
