KMTC 2024 Announces Scholarships For Nursing Students. The government has announced nursing scholarships for financially disadvantaged students who want to pursue a community health nursing certificate course. In partnership with Beyond Zero, the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has introduced a scholarship program to commence in March 2024 for the 2023-2024 academic year.
KMTC Managing Director Kelly Oluoch emphasized that eligible candidates from selected arid and semi-arid regions, underserved minorities and other vulnerable groups will be given priority for the two-year scholarships. These scholarships will be offered at KMTC campuses in Kapenguria, Kabarnet, Bomet, Loitoktok, Garissa, Kilifi, Kitui and Msambweni.
Prospective scholars are required to commit to serving their communities upon completion of the program. To apply, candidates must submit handwritten essays of no more than 200 words explaining why they deserve the scholarships and the contributions they plan to make to their communities after graduation.
The application deadline is 26 February and successful candidates will receive full scholarships covering the entire duration of the course. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. The KMTC outlined specific eligibility criteria, including a KCSE Intermediate grade of C- or equivalent, C- in English or Kiswahili, C- in Biology and D+ in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry.
