KUCCPS CLARIFIES ON UNIVERSITY ENTRY GRADES
On January 24, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) denied rumors that admission requirements for male students enrolled in universities had been increased.
In a statement, KUCCPS announced an increase in B-entry grades for candidates taking the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2022.
Also, KUCCPS announced that it has a new system that will award female students with high scores of C+.
KUCCPS announced that the revised syllabus with cut-off points will be made public after the evaluation while detailing the Selection procedure.
“Please note that this information is false and does not come from KUCCPS,” the message read in part.
“Official notification regarding minimum entry level and other requirements will be published through major media outlets and KUCCPS website in due course,” the statement said.
This follows an online outcry from Kenyans who say increasing the enrollment rate for boys is harmful and oppose President William Ruto’s 100% pass programme.
“The minimum entry requirement to apply for the degree program is C+ for female applicants and B- for male students,” said the announcement on the flagship social media site.
“KCSE candidates must follow this procedure if they meet the points set by KUCCPS for admission to diploma and diploma programs.
