List of Schools Choosen to Benefit from Free Lunch Program
List of Schools Choosen to Benefit from Free Lunch Program. Students and parents can rest easy now that the Kenyan Kwanza administration has allocated Sh5 billion to the School Feeding Programme for all public schools.
Along with the presentation of the budget projections for 2023–24 on Thursday afternoon, Finance Minister CS Njuguna Ndung’u also disclosed the aforementioned amount.
The school feeding program that President William Ruto vowed to undertake during the 2022 election campaigns in all public primary schools across the country has been funded by the Sh3.6 trillion Kenya Kwanza budget for 2023–24 first bugdet.
Ruto had promised that the Kwanza government will implement the plan in schools all around the country to help ensure the efficient operation of schools.
According to the Kenya Kwanza administration, the goal of this program is to enhance student nutrition and encourage student retention in schools.
In Kenya, it is feasible, according to Ruto. Our children won’t have to go out and locate lunch or maybe go without thanks to the implementation of this initiative,”
It was made plain during his appearance before the national parliament, according to Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, that parents of junior secondary school students are accountable for feeding their children in compliance with the secondary school implementation guidelines.
According to Guideline 8.6 for JSS school, parents/guardians are responsible for providing school meals.
A portion of the sentence says, “JSS management shall ensure that no student leaves school as a result of paying lunch program fees.”
According to Machogu, the jss board needs to provide parents the choice of either bringing their children to school with a packed lunch or paying for lunches out of pocket.
The JSS board should set up a meeting of the parents of that particular school, after which they make the payment, after discussing and settling on the amount that each parent must pay to provide lunch for their children.Machogu emphasized that this payment is not necessary and is only an option.
The ministry is striving to ensure that all students receive food at their institutions, according to Machogu’s additional statement.
Students are now eagerly awaiting the program’s implementation in schools in order to benefit.
