More P1 teachers will be promoted to JSS according to TSC.Second cohorts of P1 teachers will be offered promotion into junior secondary schools this year, according to the Teachers Service Commission. Even though the deadline for their application was March 22, 2023, the commission has postponed their promotion to junior secondary schools. According to the commission, the delays are the result of not having enough money.
TSC is requesting a total of sh. 2.2 billion for teacher promotion in the budget that will be read in parliament next week. The money will also be used to promote 14,000 teachers who have been stuck in the same job category for a long time.
By February 6th, 2023, the first group of these teachers received letters of deployment to junior secondary. Following a comprehensive document review by the corresponding sub county directors of education, they received the deployment letters. The selected instructors were shortlisted after they first applied to be sent to schools. The letters of deployment said that they might be promoted to work group C2.
