P1 Teachers to Teach in JSS With Better Salary
P1 Teachers to Teach in JSS With Better Salary. Headteachers have made the decision to advocate for the permanent retention of grades 7, 8, and 9 in primary schools. More than 8000 heads claimed to have the necessary qualifications to manage junior secondary in their current primary institutions.
The presidential taskforce on educational reforms has put forth a suggestion that secondary boarding schools be abolished. They should be changed over to become day schools instead. The Kenya Primary School Headteachers Association (KEPSHA) has supported this plan.
They claim that this action would enable parents to actively participate in their children’s education and would aid in reducing the threat of arson in institutions. Additionally, this would result in a rise in the nation’s educational standards.
TSC has said it will continue to promote primary school teachers into junior secondary schools while the headteachers are pressing for the permanent stationing of grades 7, 8, and 9 in primary schools. The TSC CEO stated that efforts are being made to keep up the advancement of teachers into junior secondary.
Although not all elementary school teachers would be promoted to JSS, TSC stated that promotions will depend on a number of variables. One of the basic standards TSC demands for promotion of these teachers into JSS is a mean grade of a C+ in KCSE.

However, this requirement has excluded thousands of teachers who received lower-than-C+ grades but continued on to earn diplomas and master’s degrees. KEPSHA encouraged TSC to take into account a hardship allowance for delocalized instructors in addition.
The administrators have requested that TSC conduct an assessment to map schools in slums and other difficult places. After that is finished, desks must be provided so that kids can attend school. Phillip Mitei, national secretary of Kepsha, announced that they would work with the ministry of education to increase capitation to schools.
It should be mentioned that primary school teachers’ pay increase as they advance to junior secondary schools. This is so because a promotion results in a job group growing, which raises wages.
TSC may eventually be compelled to reduce the minimal standards in order to allow more primary school instructors to instruct junior secondary students in grades 7, 8, and 9.
