Primary School Deputy Headteacher Duties and Responsibilities. The primary school has two deputy heads of department. in C4 and C5, respectively, and Deputy Head Teacher II in C4.
The Deputy Head Teacher will answer to the Head Teacher for the creation and implementation of the curriculum, educational policies, plans, and programs.
The Deputy Head Teacher will oversee the institution in the absence of the Head Teacher.
The responsibilities and duties of Deputy Head Teachers II (T-Scale 9) and I (T-Scale 10) are as follows:
(i) Coordinate the delivery of counseling and guidance services to students, non-teaching staff, and teachers in order to promote norms and values for peaceful coexistence;
(ii) Make sure that students, non-teaching staff, and teachers maintain appropriate school discipline to foster a positive learning environment;
(iii) Make sure teachers are in charge of creating lesson plans and schemes of work in order to supervise the interpretation and application of the curriculum;
(iv) Ensure that internal tests and evaluations are conducted;
(v) Ensure that specified educational programs are carried out;
(vi) Make ensuring that teachers and students have access to, and use, the instructional materials they need to support the execution of the curriculum;
(vii) Be in charge of ordering supplies and maintaining accurate inventories for accountability and best use;
(viii) Overseeing the correct execution of instruction programs by teaching and non-teaching staff;
(ix) Plan and manage school activities, such as keeping the premises clean and making general repairs to the structures;
(xi) Maintain staff and student records, including student registers, staff attendance records, leave management forms, and punishment cases for students;
evaluate the senior instructor and other educators;
(xiii) Support the head teacher in fostering positive connections and relationships between the school and stakeholders including the neighborhood, parents, and business sector organizations;
(xiv) Ensure the resources of the institution and students are safe and secure;
(xv) Create lesson plans, lesson notes, timetables, and work schedules, and uphold academic standards in the classroom to guarantee that the curriculum is covered in time for assessments;
(xvi) Each subject of expertise is used to teach learners information, abilities, and attitudes;
(xvii) Assessing students in their areas of specialization and getting them ready for national and other exams;
(xviii) Implement novel concepts and initiatives to improve instruction and learning in the specialized fields;
(xix) Encourage teamwork by working together on curriculum development and instruction to ensure consistency and advancement;
(xx) Act as a positive role model and uphold student discipline to foster a favorable learning environment;
(xxi) Offer guidance and counseling to students in order to instill morals and principles for peaceful coexistence;
(xxii) Begin the process of developing, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum to make that it is applicable to and practicable in schools;
(xxiii)To enable successful teaching and learning, interpret the curriculum in all subject areas;
(xxiv) Plan workshops, seminars, and symposiums to exchange knowledge and advance certain fields of study;
(xxv) Plan corrective measures to assist students who have performance gaps.
