Reason Why a Number of Teachers are Set to Exit TSC Payroll
Reason Why a Number of Teachers are Set to Exit TSC Payroll. Thousands of teachers who work for the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will retire once they reach the legal retirement age. The instructors have their retirement letters in hand from a long time ago, and it will soon be time for them to leave the school grounds.
Of the 4,600 TSC teachers currently employed, approximately 1,538 are administrators, whose impending retirement is expected to make managing schools more difficult.
According to TSC, teachers in the North Eastern region would be able to keep working when they reach retirement age.
TSC sent invitations to teachers who had reached the mandatory retirement age of 60 in May of this year. The enormous number of teachers from the counties of Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera who were already employed by the commission forced it to engage instructors on a contract basis.
Due to the recent movement of non-local teachers, the area has been experiencing a teacher shortage; but, this mass retirement will cause a catastrophic condition of scarcity. TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia
As a form of mitigation, TSC will hire retired educators from the area on a three-year contract basis and extend the instructors’ retirement tenure by three years once they reach the legal retirement age.
This includes apparently any retired educators from other parts of the country who might be willing to work in the North Eastern region.
They are instructed to report to the County Directors of the aforementioned counties for the purpose of gathering data and potential deployment.
Thanks to the presence of the service’s teachers, thousands of unemployed instructors will have employment opportunities.
The commission has already started the hiring process for additional tutors, and qualified people are already filling out employment application forms and going through the county teacher screening process.
TSC is also projected to fill the role of the educators tasked with managing the constricted curriculum for the upcoming school year.
