Relief for Teachers Without Jobs as TSC Posts Jobs Next Week. According to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), 20,000 opportunities for intern teachers would be publicised the following week.
Qualified candidates may apply for the seats when the announcement is made during the 46th KESSHA Conference in Mombasa next week, according to TSC Chairperson Jamleck Muturi.
The commission would receive an additional budget of Sh323.7 billion in the fiscal year 2023–24, which is a rise of Sh24 billion over the amount granted for 2022–23, according to Muturi.
To ease the country’s teacher shortfall, Sh4.6 billion would be spent to hire intern instructors.
For teacher promotions, including those of principals who have fallen behind for a while, Sh1 billion has also been set aside. The CBC will add another Sh1.3 billion to its capacity-building investment in education.

The commission has also provided nationwide training in the use of distant learning to 163,938 instructors.
With the help of this programme, a teacher from Machakos High School would be able to digitally teach Kanga High School students.
Muturi stated that this effort aims to alleviate the nation’s teacher shortage situation in addition to the government’s present efforts to hire more teachers.
During the fiscal year 2022-2023, the government hired 30,550 educators for junior secondary schools. These included 9,000 regular employees with pension rights and 21,550 intern teachers.
Under the deployment system, each school received a single teacher for each stream.
Muturi exhorted school leaders to make the most of the few resources at their disposal in order to boost productivity and efficiency.
He exhorted them to find innovative ways to generate income to supplement the sometimes insufficient government funding.
According to Muturi, TSC has created a fully operational wellness clinic with licenced medical specialists to assist with the rehabilitation of principals and teachers who experience alcoholism, drug addiction, or other substance misuse as a result of the stress of their professions.
