As per to the PS, this year’s Form 1 reporting deadline is January 30, 2023.
Inorder to safeguard parents from school exploitation, the government through the PS has directed principals to stop putting purchase requests on parents.
“All the Schools must not direct parents to procure uniforms or any other materials from a central location.” in addition schools should not ask parents to come and buy items in the school,” part of the ministry circular reads .
Most of the private schools have already spoken out ahead of the Form 1 selection and placement process.
He further said that all candidates are Kenyan children and it is our belief that Form One selection will be fair to all indicating that this association is keenly watching.
The body in charge of private schools, the Kenya Private Schools Association (KPSA) has asked the government to ensure impartiality in Form One selection.
This association’s vice chairman,Mr. Solomon Munene, has Highlighted that the selection should be influenced by candidates’ achievement in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam.
Munene said that the government should reward hard work and let all candidates join secondary schools of their choice as per their performance,”
The association also requested that the Ministry of Education consider incorporating private secondary schools in Form One selection and placement.
munene also indicated that a number of private secondary schools struggle to get Form One students because they are excluded from the selection.
He indicated that this is unfair because private secondary schools have invested a lot in infrastructure and learning materials and yet their facilities are greatly underutilised.
He added that the national government support will lure parents to private secondary schools, easing overcrowding in public secondary schools.
As per to the Ministry of Education, all schools will reopen on January 23rd, 2023.
