Teacher Promotion Deadline Extended by TSC
Teacher Promotion Deadline Extended by TSC. Teachers now have an extra week to submit their applications for promotions, thanks to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
The Commission said that the application deadline for promotions was June 9, but it has now been extended to June 15 after two previous attempts to do so failed to generate enough interest.
Although hundreds of schools still lack principals and associate principals as a result of teachers failing to apply for listed vacancies, TSC intends to promote more than 14,000 teachers.
The Commission works to make sure that teachers are promoted as a way to acknowledge and reward teachers’ effort and performance, align them for succession planning or career advancement, and inspire them to perform better in their roles and responsibilities. This is intended to raise the caliber of instruction and learning, according to a statement from TSC.
TSC urged educators to submit applications for these jobs, noting its obligation to supply institutional administrators for the efficient management of public educational institutions.
For positions such as chief principals, principals, deputy principals, headteachers, deputy headteachers, senior masters, and senior teachers, as well as Special Needs Education (SNE) positions to fill vacancies and institutional administrators, the Commission initially advertised 14,738 teacher promotions in January.
The Commission is still looking to fill 1,001 new employees, notwithstanding the second posting.
For instance, the Commission only received applications for 5,152 of the 7,720 deputy headteacher jobs for traditional primary schools listed in the first round, leaving 2,568 positions empty.
There were 1,581 more instructors who applied for promotions during the second round of advertising, a difference of 987.
The Commission stated, “The Commission has again granted an additional seven days from June 9 to 15 to allow more applications.”
