Teachers received some bad news after SRC made this payment announcement
Teachers received some bad news after SRC made this payment announcement. It was anticipated that this month will see a pay increase for the instructors hired by the Teachers Service Commission, which is required by the Constitution to register, hire, promote, and exercise disciplinary monitoring. The Teachers Service Commission is required by the Constitution to carry out certain duties.
The wages and remuneration commission decided to raise their pay over the course of two fiscal years, 2023–2024 and 2024–2025, respectively. This is in response to that decision.
President William Samoei Ruto agreed with the salary agency’s recommendation, noting that pay increases were necessary for certain positions in order to close the pay gap between teachers, police officers, and other public employees with lower salaries.
The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet), nevertheless, is concerned that the pay raise would not be reflected in this month’s paychecks.
The wages and pay committee was meant to set up a meeting to talk about how the salary increase would be implemented, but they didn’t do it, said Akelo Misori, the secretary general of Kuppet.
The unionist mocked SRC in his speech yesterday in Nairobi for delaying a meeting in order to ignore the union’s interest in holding negotiations to revise the collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
