Number of teachers storm at TSC offices demanding for transfer letters
Number of teachers storm at TSC offices demanding for transfer letters.More than 200 West Pokot teachers who work in Trans Nzoia County marched to the Kitale offices of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) on Monday to demand transfers.
Despite the fact that delocalization had been ended, the primary school teachers reported that TSC had refused to transfer them to their counties.
The teachers were sent away by the officials, who insisted that they go back to their stations.
They expressed their dissatisfaction with the delocalization drive, citing family breakups as one of their complaints, under the leadership of John Kimtai, a teacher at Cheptandan Primary School.
Despite the government’s decision to scrap the delocalization project, the instructors said TSC was holding up their transfers.
Kimtai objected, “TSC has refused to allow us go back to our home county, although other teachers in other counties have been sent there.
They said that family separation has been exacerbated by delocalization and that returning home will solve the issue.
“Since I moved to Trans Nzoia County, things in my family have not been doing well. We are requesting TSC to relocate us to safeguard our marriages because my husband believes I am being disloyal to him, said Eve Lokosoywan.
Some others stated that they wanted to return home to look after their aging parents and property.
“We are in pain. Stressed and sad, we are. One of the professors added, “We don’t want to pass away because we work in an uncomfortable environment.
Some of the disabled teachers said that TSC was being unjust by ignoring their situation.
They made a commitment to camp outside the TSC offices until their concerns were heard.
One of the protesting teachers remarked, “We’re going to camp here until we get transfer letters from TSC.
The Standard tried unsuccessfully to reach TSC county Director Ali Jamal for comment, but he did not return calls or Text messages.
