The Kenya National Union of Teachers has today announced a 60 percent pay rise for teachers across all cadres for the 2021-2025 collective bargaining period.
Speaking in Kisumu today, KNUT secretary general Collins Oyuu said some teachers remained in the job group for years because of the previous economic hardships when the former CBA focused on better packages for principals and principals.
Oyuu spoke in Kisumu, where the union will hold its annual delegation conference starting Wednesday, where more than 2,000 members from 115 branches will be represented.
Other issues that will be discussed in the NDC are the dismissal of teachers, the criteria for teacher promotion, as well as the establishment of a teacher’s court to deal with teacher disciplinary issues.
