TSC 2023 PUBLISHES TRAINING SCHEDULE AND VENUES PER COUNTY FOR CBC TEACHERS. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will start retraining teachers of the Grade 7 class in competency-based curriculum (CBC) and competency-based assessment (CBA) from October 2 to October 13, 2023.
Smart cascade will be the training paradigm, with Master Trainers being taught to train Trainers of Trainees and subsequently providing expert assistance during the teachers’ in-person training.
The dates for the in-person training are as follows:
- TSC,
- KICD,
- KNEC,
- KEMI,
- CEMASTEA,
- MoE,
- KISE,and
- TTCs.
From October 2 to 4, KISE will conduct training for Master Trainers (regular and SNE), with participants chosen from:
On October 6 and 7, participants will receive training for TOTs, both normal and SNE, at TTCs and County select sites. Participants will be chosen from CSOs, TTC Teacher Educators, MoE QAS, and TSC SCDs.
Teachers will be retrained in subject clusters at TTCs and county-selected locations from October 9 to October 13.
Teachers of languages, science, math, the humanities, and technical courses will be among the participants.
To increase teacher capacity, the following initiatives will be implemented:
The Curriculum Support Officers, Teachers Educators (Tutors), TSC sub county Directors, and MoE Quality Assurance Officers are the Trainers of Trainers (TOTs) that the Master Trainers will train for two days.
For five days, the TOTs will train teachers in-person.
Throughout the teacher training process, the Master Trainers will provide expert guidance.
For ASAL (Mandera, Lamu, Wajir, Garissa, Tanariver, Isiolo, Marsabit, Samburu, Turkana, Marsabit, and West Pokot) and SNE, the exercise will be residential; however, for non-ASAL, it won’t be.
The locations will either be TTCs or certain locations in the County.
