TSC Advertises 6000 Vacancies for P1 Teachers To JSS
TSC Advertises 6000 Vacancies for P1 Teachers To JSS. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 6,000 placements for current primary school teachers who hold degrees in secondary education, inviting them to apply by the 18 March 2024 deadline.
To facilitate the promotion of PTE (Primary Teacher Education) teachers, TSC is planning to place them in the Junior Secondary Section from next semester. Qualified primary school teachers who wish to be posted to JSS must meet specific criteria, including active registration with the TSC, employment as a primary school teacher with the commission and holding a minimum Diploma in Education with at least a C+ at KCSE.
Applicants are required to submit various documents during verification, including original and copy of diploma certificate, academic transcripts, SNE qualification (if applicable), KCSE certificate, current pay slip and statement from the head of the institution confirming current teacher status.
The first cohort of P1 teachers has already been deployed and received their lower secondary letters. However, there was a delay in some teachers enjoying their new salaries. In response to high demand, TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia guidelines to speed up payment process for deployed teachers.
Dr. Macharia highlighted the online processes for posting, input and output reporting and urged county directors, sub-district directors and directors to follow the guidelines. The commission is actively addressing the shortage of teachers in lower secondary schools with a focus on deploying more teachers. Salary figures for deployed teachers include basic salary, household allowance, hardship allowance, commuting allowance and holiday allowance.
Teachers with a diploma will be assigned to job group C2 for three years before automatically advancing to job group C3. Persons with a diploma in job group B5 start in job group C1 and after three years advance to job group C2. Qualified special education teachers (SNEs) are recommended for placement in special junior high schools.
