TSC Has Issued New Dates for Teacher Promotion
TSC Has Issued New Dates for Teacher Promotion. Next week, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is set to launch nationwide interviews for the promotion of primary school teachers. TSC plans to fill 36,505 promotions which were advertised in September 2023. These interviews will be held in sub-districts.
Scheduled for 4-15 December 2023, primary teacher interviews will begin with C1 teachers competing for 10,819 Senior Teacher II (C2) posts in mainstream schools and 700 posts for special schools.
Required documents for December promotion interviews include original ID card, academic and professional certificates, appointment letters for current grade and post, analyzed subject results of KCPE/KCSE examinations for the last three years, verified by TSC County Directors/Sub County Directors and reports on the performance evaluation for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022, among others.
Around 150,000 primary and secondary school teachers have been shortlisted for interviews to secure a place among 36,505 vacancies. High school teacher interviews are scheduled for January 3-16, 2024.
During secondary school interviews, C2 teachers will compete for 3,040 Senior Teacher I (C3) posts in mainstream primary schools and 346 posts for special schools. Class C3 teachers will compete for 1,930 Deputy Principal II (C4) posts in mainstream primary schools.
Deputy principals in C4 will compete for 1,049 principal positions in C5 for regular primary schools and 30 for special schools. This interview is notable for the record number of teachers shortlisted for promotion by the TSC.
Teacher shortages in arid and semi-arid countries (ASAL) and other staff-intensive areas are attributed to the wide range of courses, high student numbers and numerous educational institutions in these countries. TSC promotions are governed by standards that consider factors such as availability of funds, open positions, candidate eligibility, job performance, seniority, experience, annual performance records and academic achievements, according to Macharia.
