The teacher service commission (TSC) advertised for teaching posts on Tuesday, December 13th. There were 35,000 vacancies advertised for both primary and secondary school teachers. The posts consist of 9000 permanent and pensionable secondary school teachers and 21,000 posts for teacher interns in junior secondary. 1000 posts are for permanent and pensionable primary teachers, and 4000 teacher internships are for primary schools.
The applications are ongoing and are expected to close by December 16, 2023. Trained teachers are expected to make one application for either intern or permanent pensionable status.

After applications have been made, the commission will generate a list of those who applied. It is during this time that the county selection panel will be shortlisted and invitations will be sent for the interviews.
Wednesday, January 11, 2023–Thursday, January 5, 2023
The county recruitment process will be ongoing. Candidates will be attending interviews during this time. This will take 7 days.
Thursday, January 12th, 2023 through Friday, January 20th, 2023
The vetting will be done at the county level. Complaints will be handled during this time. Some of the complaints include corruption in the vetting exercise. However, the commission has assured a free and fair recruitment exercise. It’s during this time that successful candidates will sign an internship agreement. Internship letters will be issued during this period, and successful candidates will sign the same contract for permanent and pensionable jobs. This will take 7 days.
Monday, January 23
Newly employed teachers and teacher interns will be reporting to their new work stations. On this date, schools are also opening.
Tuesday, January 31, 2023-Friday, February 3, 2023
The recruitment documents will be submitted to the TSC headquarters. This is expected to take four days.
