Government Sponsored Courses 2023 For D- and E Students. The government places students in various tertiary institutions around the nation through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
The assignment is based on each student’s performance on the KCSE, or Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, exam.
Students who received grades of C or higher were placed in various undergraduate degree courses, while those who received grades of C or lower were eligible for certificate programs.
Students with a D+ or D grade may apply for certificate programs, while those with a D or E grade may enroll in artisan programs.
If you are enrolled in a KUCCPS course, you are eligible for funding from the Universities Fund and Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
A well-known site has put up a list of 153 artisan courses that are open to kids who receive a D- or lower on their KCSE exams.
The following clusters are used by KUCCPS to group together the courses:
- Business; Building and Construction; Engineering and Technology; Food Science; Social Sciences; Applied Sciences; Information Technology; Hospitality, Hotel and Tourism; Clothing, Fashion and Textile; Agricultural Sciences; Natural Sciences;
- Technical Courses; Hair Dressing and Beauty Therapy; and Library and Information Sciences.
Storekeeping (with two options), Secretarial, Supply chain management, and Office Assistance Level 4 are among the artisan courses offered under the business cluster.
The following artisan courses are available through KUCCPS under the heading of “Building and Construction”: Masonry (3 choices), Trade Test Masonry, Masonry Level 4, and Grade 3 in Masonry.
Electrical installation (5 options), Installation and electrical wire man, Electrical installation level 4, Electrical and electronics technology, Electrical installation level 3, Automotive engineering (2 options), and Motor vehicle mechanics are among the artisan courses offered under the Engineering and Technology program.
Electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, Grade 3 electrical wireman, and Electrical wireman are some further disciplines (3 options).
The following artisan courses are available to students interested in food sciences: Food and beverage production, service, and sales; Craft in food and beverage; Food and beverage production, service, and sales; Food and beverage manufacturing and service, with two alternatives (2 options).
The following clusters are excluded from offering artisan courses under the updated KUCCPS list for 2023: Social Sciences, Applied Sciences, Hospitality, Hotel and Tourism, and Natural Sciences.
KUCCPS only offers one artisan course in information communication technology under the information technology cluster.
Government Sponsored Courses 2023 For D- and E Students
The following artisan courses are available through the apparel, fashion, and textile cluster: fashion design and garment making (two options), design and garment making technology, fashion and design, garment making (three options), garment making and dressmaking, dressmaking and tailoring, Trade tests 3 in dressmaking, tailoring, and garment manufacturing are all required.
D- and E students with a passion for agriculture are available for artisan courses in General Agriculture and Certificate in Agribusiness.
Carpentry, Carpentry and Joinery (2 options), Motor Vehicle Mechanics (4 options), Grade 3 in Carpentry and Joinery, Plumbing (3 options), and Plumbing Works are the artisan courses offered under Technical Courses.
There are also trade test grades 3 in motor vehicle mechanics, plumbing and building services, plumbing level 4, plumbing technology, NVCET in plumbing, automotive vehicle mechanics, welding and fabrication (4 options), manual arc welding level 4, and plumbing technology (2 options).
The following courses are available under the heading of “Hair Dressing and Beauty Therapy”: Grade 3 in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, Grade 3 Hair and Beauty Therapy, and Grade 3 Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy (3 options).
Further available to students are Level 4 in hairdressing and beauty therapy, Trade Test 3 in hairdressing and beauty therapy, NVCET in hairdressing and beauty therapy technology, NVCET in hairdressing and beauty therapy, and Level 4 in hairdressing and beauty therapy.
