KUCCPS Extends Application Deadline to This After Online Uproar
KUCCPS Extends Application Deadline to This After Online Uproar. The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has extended the application deadline to February 26, 2024 with the main objective of giving parents and stakeholders more time to apply for courses.
This expansion is in response to the challenges applicants face in accessing the portal and KUCCPS remains committed to ensuring that all aspiring students secure placements in tertiary institutions.
In an announcement on Friday, February 16, KUCCPS Director General Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome concerned parents and students that the aim of the extension is to include everyone in the placement process. Initially, frustration among parents and students arose over glitches in the system, which caused delays in applications.
Issues such as receiving the message “Error: Please wait for payment to be reflected to complete application” after payment hindered the application process.
Despite the extension of the deadline, users emphasized the importance of system improvements for more efficient application procedures. Dr. Wahome explained that the system was facing congestion due to the increase in applications, which led to an effort to moderate traffic on the site.
At the same time, KUCCPS has extended a lifeline to candidates who have achieved an average grade of E in the KCSE examinations in 2023. They have announced several government sponsored courses available through the placement service covering various fields such as commerce, construction, engineering and technology, food, social science, information technology, hospitality, hospitality and tourism and apparel, fashion and textiles. . This initiative provides higher education and career opportunities to a wider range of students.
