KUCCPS Has Raised Concern Over Ongoing Course Application
KUCCPS Has Raised Concern Over Ongoing Course Application. The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has expressed concern over course applications received from students who scored D and E in the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations. In a statement issued on Saturday, the placement service highlighted a notable shortage requests from this particular group of students.
Notably, candidates scoring grades D and E form the largest segment of the 2023 KCSE cohort, with a staggering 494,317 out of 895,533 students falling into this category.
In response to this situation, KUCCPS has taken proactive measures by extending the application deadline to February 26. The Placement Service strongly encourages students with D and E levels to take advantage of this opportunity to apply to a variety of tertiary institutions.
As part of its advisory, KUCCPS recommended that 494,317 students consider exploring vocational courses offered by technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, which are currently seeing lower applications.
Emphasizing the importance of these opportunities, especially for those with average grades ranging from C to E, KUCCPS encourages students to visit nearby TVET institutions for assistance. The application portal opened on February 8 and allows students to choose their preferred courses and universities, including degrees, diplomas and certificates. All applications are processed through the KUCCPS student portal (www.student.kuccps.net). Here, students are guided through the process of entering program codes and checking eligibility before submission.
KUCCPS provided detailed guidelines to minimize errors during the application process. They emphasize the importance of allowing the system to complete the data loading and application review processes before submission, ensuring a smooth and accurate application process for all students.
