New ECDE salary scale for teachers per county
New ECDE salary scale for teachers per county. Early childhood development teachers play a significant role in helping students easily complete their educational systems. Since they act as starter-pack for child’s education. Hence their outcry for pay rise should be taken into consideration since the current payment is termed to be too low for an ECDE teacher.
The pre-primary or nursery levels are where the Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers interact with the students and learn the school environment and get nurtured.
To serve these students, this position demands humility and patience.
The workload of education and work experience that an ECDE teacher has, among other things, has a considerable impact on their pay since they have to attend all the lessons and also outside the class e.g Physical Education.
TSC New ECDE Teacher Grading
The ECDE teacher assessment system is applied to the regular teachers who are not members of the Teachers Service Commission as follows:

Higher level ECDE teachers now receive new grading, which includes;
P-D1
Q-D2
R-D3
The Kenya Council of Governors, presided over by Anne Waiguru, announced that the committee would investigate the issue of ECDE teacher compensation and devise a strategy to break the current pay impasse.
Governors will work with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), according to the chair, to determine a fair and sustainable remuneration for these teachers.
The SRC recommended that the lowest cadre of Nairobi-based ECDE teachers (Cluster 1) receive between Ksh 14,961 and Ksh 15,842 and those in Cluster 4 (other locations) should receive between Ksh 13,211 and Ksh 14,092.
It further asserted that on January 13, 2023, it updated its prior position on the pay and benefits of ECDE teachers in response to a request from county governments.
Although other counties had previously started utilizing this compensation structure, the Governors received a different reaction when they questioned SRC about it.
