Rongo University Retrenches 137 Employees Due to Insufficient Capital. C137 lecturers and non-teaching staff members at Rongo University have been let go as the university restructures.
The move, according to Rongo University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Samuel Gudu, was necessitated by decreasing national government funding as well as a harsh economic climate that has put the university in financial trouble.
Despite the rise in the expense of running the university over the same five-year period, according to Prof. Gudu, capitation from the national government has remained stable.
He asserted that the decline in the number of students who are self-sponsored since 2016 has resulted in financial issues.
Those who lose their jobs will have some money to start their new lives.
This comes when there is restructure of University funding from the government headed by President Ruto. Also due to tough economic moments many changes are likely to occur in different universities for effective running of activities.
