Training of JSS Intern Teachers Set to Start Next Month. Subject: December 2023 elementary school mathematics training and district-level integrated science teachers on pedagogical content knowledge

The Center for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA) will begin training newly recruited Junior High School (JS) teachers to teach integrated mathematics and science. This course aimed at developing the Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) of teachers will be held for four days from Wednesday, December 13 to Saturday, December 13, 2023.
In the preparation of this training, we ask for the cooperation of the District Education Officers so that the event can run smoothly. The following guidelines should be followed:
1. Invitation of JS teachers: CTCDC invites JS teachers to participate in the training on the date indicated (see Appendix I for details of the distribution of teachers, centers and trainers).
2. Selection Criteria: Only JS teachers appointed to teach mathematics and integrated science should be invited. Teachers who participated in the training held in April/May 2023 are not eligible.
3. Subject Groups: Ensure appropriate distribution of guest teachers in the two subjects of Mathematics and Integrated Science as shown in Appendix I.
4. Training venue preparation: Make sure that the INSET center (event) hosting the training is ready for the event.
5. Purchase Materials: Purchase the materials needed for the study as listed in Appendix II, within the budget limit approved for INSET JS County December 2023.
6. Per diem allowance: Provide each participant with a per diem allowance in accordance with the budget approved in December 2023 to facilitate accommodation near the designated JS County INSET training site.
7. Transportation: Ensure that each participant receives a transportation allowance that returns to JS County INSET in accordance with the December 2023 approved budget.
8. Budget Compliance: Pay all expenses related to training in accordance with the approved budget of JS County INSET in December 2023.
9. Attendance Management: Designate the staff responsible for managing the attendance list during the training and coordinating with the trainers to prepare the list.
