Hope For KCSE D- Students As KeNHA Announces Free Scholarships. Students with a D- or below grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) can apply for a scholarship recently awarded by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).
As part of the Bagamoyo-Horohoro/Lungalunga-Malindi and Mombasa-Mariakani highway projects, the agency is asking students to participate in a public announcement on Tuesday, August 15.

“The education is aimed at youths from Kwale, Mombasa and Kilifi counties,” who will all be affected by the project.
According to part of the announcement, “This scholarship is designed to equip vulnerable youth living in the project area with the skills they need for income generation and social stability.”
The training they will receive will be provided by one of the five technical training institutes designated by KeNHA. These institutions include the Kenya Coast National Polytechnic and the Christian Industrial Training Center (CITC), both located in Mombasa; Mtongwe Vocational Training Center (Kwale), Mkwajuni Vocational Training Center and Mdzongoloni Vocational Training Center, all located in Kilifi County; and Mdzongoloni Vocational Training Center.
Among the many courses available to students are welding and fabrication, electrical installation, automotive mechanics, hairdressing, basic tailoring, fashion design, crafts and carpentry.
Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years of age and must not have completed formal education beyond the diploma level.
In addition, they are expected to be literate and live in informal settlements in designated areas.
This scholarship will cover the student’s tuition fees, internet fees, and a monthly stipend.

Applicants can visit the KeNHA website, download and fill the form and submit it at any of the authorized offices.
Applications are accepted through the offices of the Mombasa, Kilifi and Kwale County Commissioners or the KeNHA Regional Office in Mombasa, according to the notice.
Applications will be reviewed based on basic guidelines, then candidates who meet the basic requirements will be required to undergo a physical examination and interview.
A comparative review of submitted applications, conditions met, and performance criteria developed in collaboration with other government agencies will be used to determine which students will receive the scholarship.
The deadline for submitting applications is 5:00 PM on the first Friday of September 2023.
