NYS 2024 Announces Recruitment of Volunteers Countrywide
NYS 2024 Announces Recruitment of Volunteers Countrywide. The Kenya National Youth Service (NYS) has officially announced the upcoming recruitment of volunteers. In a statement released Tuesday, the NYS outlined that opportunities are open to both men and women across the country. The volunteer drive will take place from February 5 to February 9, 2024.
Minimal requirements
Potential volunteers must meet certain criteria. They must be Kenyan citizens and residents of the relevant sub-county where the recruitment is taking place, between the ages of 18 and 24 years. In addition, a minimum grade of D plain and above in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is expected. Applicants are also required to provide the original National Identity Card along with their academic certificates and one set of its photocopies at the recruitment centre.
Other prerequisites include possession of a Certificate of Good Conduct, readiness to undergo medical examinations during and after recruitment, willingness to undergo rigorous physical training and readiness to offer voluntary service to the nation in any part of Kenya.
Reports and call letters
Successful candidates are informed that they will have to report for the NYS Paramilitary Course at NYS College, Gilgil and NYSTTI Naivasha as per the stipulated dates and times as mentioned in their respective call letters.
NYS Volunteer Recruitment
Recognizing the challenges some may face, NYS has expressed its concern for orphans who meet the eligibility requirements listed. Orphans are given special priority, provided they can present sufficient documentary evidence, such as parents’ death certificates or burial permits.
Persons with disabilities
In addition, the recruitment process encourages the participation of people with disabilities. These individuals are encouraged to present themselves for recruitment in their respective sub-districts and centers if they can withstand rigorous physical training.
The NYS statement strongly warns against corruption and emphasizes a zero-tolerance policy. Soliciting or offering monetary or other consideration for admission is considered a criminal offense leading to automatic disqualification and potential prosecution. Cases of this nature are urgently requested to be reported immediately to the General Manager on the above telephone number 020-2400129.
